Beware Yon Dragons

A regular running monologue of opinions and ideas from a "country priest".

Praying to St. George

May 9, 2026

A while back I was asked about a prayer for the men and boys at St. George to be able to say that encourages godly masculinity (and that would be fitting for our security team as well!). I looked, and looked, and looked, and found nothing that had enough "ooompf" to it. Most were somewhat bland, or so light that it was not praying for anything more than mere generic goodness.

So, with that up against me, I decided to write one myself. I include it here as an offering to anyone who wishes to use it. No credit is needed; feel free to use it for the glory of God.
Prayer to St. George
O most holy and powerful soldier and martyr, St. George:
Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, thou conquered this world, and it's dragons. We ask that thou wouldst pray for us that we may defend those under our care against the dragons that we must fight. Help us to be brave in our battles, faithful in our actions, strong in our leadership, and courageous in our choices. Help us to grow in the virtues of faith, hope, and charity. Pray that in all we do, we may quit ourselves like men; through Christ our Lord. Amen.
