Are you in danger? How would you know? Do you know signs to look for that tell you that you are in danger? There are many different kinds of danger that you could be in that can easily be missed. If someone is holding a gun on you, you know that you are in danger. If, however, someone is lying to you, you might not know the danger that you are experiencing.
What about spiritual dangers? Do you recognize spiritual dangers? What about in a movie you see or a book that you read? Can you recognize when the devil is trying to influence you in entertainment? Or, how about that chat session in the break room at work? Do you recognize the danger of vulgar speech, or gossip? Do you recognize that someone may attack the Catholic faith and you will be tempted to hide your faith and not to speak the truth?
Being on the lookout is crucial in this deceptive world that we live in today. Understanding, at least to a basic degree, the temptations of the world, and what it is trying to do to us, is vital. In the Scriptures, St. Paul tells us about the importance of putting on spiritual armor to prepare for a spiritual warfare that we are up against (e.g. Ephesians chapter 6). Are you taking advantage of that armor that God offers you?
