I met some people once who were very nice. It was horrible being around them. They were not willing to help one another; all they wanted was to be "nice" and not say anything that would in any way hurt someone's feelings. This is actually a very mean way to live (I hope you can see the irony of it). Someone different commented to me recently that he is tired of different beliefs and opinions and just wants everyone to be nice to each other. According to him, that will make the world a better place for everyone. Sadly, this has been tried, and it does not work. Kindness is not niceness, and love is not niceness. Although both can be confused with niceness, being kind and showing love are very different than being nice. Kindness and love are commanded by God, and they are not optional. If you do not know the difference, then it would be good to look into it. Kindness is a matter of being polite and showing grace to others. Love is being willing to do good for others, even if it means sacrifice. Niceness has very little to do with either of those.
