In the book Perelandra , by C.S. Lewis, one of the characters learns something quite profound. Upon the realization of this she responds and says (as closely as I can quote it from memory), Thank you for teaching me that, I'm older now. She saw learning as growing older, as though the two always went hand in hand. Our concept of wisdom needs to be revamped. We all too often think of learning as something that comes from a textbook or a school. In my family the dinner table is one of the best places for learning (it always was for our homeschool practices!). It is there that we grow older. If we all had this same concept of learning and of being older (physically and mentally), it is quite possible that we may be able to learn more efficiently.
