I like talking with Protestants. No, not because I like the Protestant way of thinking (I did, after all, leave that behind when I became Catholic). No, rather, I like it because it makes me appreciate what I have. It makes me think about how easy it is to be off kilter about the works and words of God without knowing it. It helps me to see that we all have assumptions; we just each need to examine those assumptions and ask the simple question, Where did my assumptions come from; myself, or God? God wants you to assume the truth of what He says, and He also wants you to be wary of your own ideas. We are easily led astray in the guise of truth; but only God can lead us to truth in the shape of humility.
