Pope Francis Rest Eternal Grant Him O Lord

April 21, 2025

By now I presume you have heard that the Holy Father, Pope Francis, has passed. Let us lift him up in prayer before God, and commit ourselves to praying for our next Pope. Here is the prayer from the Divine Worship Mass for a new Pope: We humbly beseech thee, O Lord: that of thy unbounded mercy thou wouldest grant unto the Holy Roman Church a Pontiff, who by his tender care towards us may ever find favor in thy sight, and, studying to preserve thy people in safety, may ever be honored by us to the glory of thy Name; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. Amen. Here are also some things to give thanks to God for that Pope Francis did for us: * Pope Francis is the one who approved Divine Worship: The Missal , as well as our book Pastoral Care of the Sick and Dying and our Daily Office. * Pope Francis appointed all three bishops for the Ordinariates, showing that we are not merely an experiment, but that we are a full and valid part of the Catholic Church and are here to stay.  * Pope Francis stood for us more than once to remove the early restrictions, and open the doors for any Catholic faithful to join the Ordinariates; which clearly enabled all three Ordinariates to grow significantly.
