Beware Yon Dragons

A regular running monologue of opinions and ideas from a "country priest".

Protesting

Oct. 13, 2025

When I was getting ready to convert and become Catholic, a protestant friend asked me why I would ever want to leave protestantism. I responded simply: I have nothing left to protest , so in that sense I am already Catholic. This does not mean that I have no problems with the current state of things in the Catholic Church. There are a number of things that I am not pleased with, I admit that freely. Yet I would never protest the Church, I would protest those who are in rebellion against the Church while remaining within her fold. Most of my protestant friends, sadly, do not even know what they are supposedly protesting about. Some will just say catholicism in general, but they do not know the content of that statement. Having been there myself at one time, I fully understand their perspective, and I pray that they will come to see things more clearly. Therefore, since I have nothing to protest, I am Catholic; by the grace of God there are no other options.
