As most of you surely know, I have been looking at various properties lately, as the parish is wanting to buy some acreage to build a new (larger) church building. A lot of this process causes stress and though I spend a lot of time in prayer over these issues, I still get concerned about whether I am making the best decision on these matters.
This morning, a thought came to mind (or maybe was sent by the Holy Ghost!), that said, "You may be stressed about this, but God is already there. You're the late arrival." That really is what we are in all of the challenging situations of our lives. God is already there working on things for us, and we are "arriving late" trying to do catch up with Him. Even though he is putting all the effort in before we even know what is going on, we tend to think we can hurry up and make things happen.
If we can truly see things from His perspective, and realize that He allows us to be a part (rather than us "allowing" Him to be a part!) of what is going on, then we can begin to learn how to trust Him. Does everything always go the way that we want? No, of course not. Yet, that is usually because we do not have all the information but we act like we do. "Lord, please keep working and teach me to get into step with You", is a powerful thing to pray. Can we learn that?
